Q.  Why doesn't Chris attend to his apparently dead woman friend and simply walk past her? Also, What was the basketball game and city walking meant to symbolize? A journey with life without her in a sped up summarized way? That still then doesn't explain the ending on a mattress in a BMX park.

For anyone who is confused by this question, William is referring to The Scientist video.
The concept is simply based around the line, "...back to the start", hence the backwards narrative.
Wikipedia doesn't give much more away but back in 2002, Jamie Thraves discussed the video in the band's official Ezine:

"I have to admit I did have a backwards video idea. It was very different but I couldn't believe it when I heard the lyrics, it just amplified the idea. There was an element of a happy ending with bittersweet emotion. It happened with Just*, I just think sometimes that an idea and a song come together like marriage and I couldn't pass up that opportunity.

It was a narrative backwards. I spent a long time thinking about the fact that if you watch it as a story, rewound it makes perfect sense. I had enough time to do it and it was almost shot in sequence. The first shot that was filmed was them in the car at the end.
It was meant to be as if it was forwards, so basically, I had to work in reverse. I had to visualize the camera angles and work out if it was going to show Chris walking from the right to the left. I had to visualize the cameras movements and then reverse it, it was really mind-boggling. As tough as it was and stressful, it was a lot of fun. I'm really pleased with the end result".

*Radiohead video that Jamie also directed.

I think you may just have to suspend your reality, William.
Music videos are (obviously) not real so don't read too much into what happens in any of them - they don't always make sense or relate to the lyrics.

FYI: Elaine Cassidy - the woman in the video - is currently starring in Paul Abbott's comedy drama, No Offence.

Q.  Hello Oracle,
I found this and I'd like to know what is MIN. 5:22-5:25. It's the same place where was recorded the In My Place video (I'm sorry, my English is bad!)

It's just footage that was filmed - but not used for the final cut - from the In My Place video shoot.
That room is in the Saatchi Gallery, London.

Q.  Hi Oracle!
I've just been wondering, who made the puppets of the boys in the Life In Technicolor ii music video?

A guy called Nonny Banks. I answered a question about the LiTii video last week The link I shared gives more information about their creation.

Q.  Dear Oracle,
Do you know where I can find a Paradise elephant costume?
Many thanks in advance! ;)

They were just costumes hired from fancy dress shops - except Guy's which was very expensive as they couldn't get a 4th one the same in time.

Q.  Do you know if Chris still owns the raincoat he wore in yellow, it's my favourite song and I just always wondered?

I have no way of knowing but I'd put money on the answer being "no". As is the nature of videos, it may not even have been his coat.

Q.  Hi Oracle, I wanted to ask you whether the book they show in the video of Life in Technicolor ii really exists? Is yes, where can I get it from? I hope you answer my question, I have been thinking about that for a while now.
Lots of love.

I answered this back in 2009 but no, it's not real. You can read an interview with the director here to find out more about it.
There are a few unofficial books (pretty much copy / cut / paste jobs) but no authorized Coldplay book as yet.

Q.  I found this video online:

Is it just me or is a Chris walking out and a Chris looking back somewhere around 3:12 at the same time? How is this? Was the walking out part edited in?
Thanks, Marie.

It's just you; the "Chris" looking back isn't Chris.

Q.  Hi Oracle,
Where's the place that was filmed the video clip of The Scientist song?

There were a couple of locations in & out of London according to Jamie Thraves (director):
"It was filmed in a variety of places. Camden, an estate near the docks. Kentish Town, the shot of Chris walking down the street was Kentish High Street*. The car scene was in Farnham, Boreham Wood or Bournewood+, I'm not sure, but it was the same place that Gladiator was filmed."

* Kentish Town High St.
+ Bourne Woods, Farnham, Surrey.

Q.  Hello Oracle and to every Coldplayer on earth!
My question is:
What model is the BMW driven by Chris in the music video The Scientist?
A few years ago I read that the car was an 1985 model. Then I discovered another website declaring the vehicle a 1987!

So now I am a bit confused! I want to purchase the same model car for myself one day. ;) And I want the correct model!
Thanks so much.

Devout Coldplayer forever,

It's an E28 BMW 5-Series. Apparently they were made between 1981 and 1988 so it very well could be '85 or '87.
I can't confirm this because it was merely a prop used in a video and has absolutely NOTHING to do with Chris. He only drove it in the video - it's not & never has been his car.

If you love the car and want to buy one the same, I think you're safe with a BMW 5 Series E28.

Q.  Hello mighty Oracle,
So I was watching a music video of Arctic Monkeys called Fluorescent Adolescent and I noticed that the place where they filmed it looked very similar to the place where Every Teardrop is a Waterfall was taken place.
Is it the same one?
Thanks from Maritza.

Yes. I've actually already answered this before.
