Q.  Hi Oracle!
What determines a song having a music video or not??
Thanks in advance if you answer!
Marie, USA

Generally speaking, if a song is going to be released as a single, there will be a video. With Ghost Stories we had the opportunity to show 'videos' for more tracks taken from the Ghost Stories animated and live films.

Q.  What's up with video uploads from past albums on the Coldplay Official YouTube channel? It's appreciated, but why is it happening?

Quite a few people have noticed this and asked but there's no sinister reason. I seem to recall it's something to do with their label becoming part of Warners.

Q.  Heyy Oracle,

I seem to remember around the time X & Y came out I saw a music video about two manakins, one a man and one a women and one of them was "fixing" the other. I'm sure I can remember it being for Fix You but obviously it's not the official video. I was wondering if it's maybe a video used by music channels before the release of the official video or if it is for a completely different song?
Thanks in advance
Callum.

I've never heard of any other video for Fix You than the one we all know and love (& as I have mentioned before, I am in). Quite a few mannequin music videos exist (like daft Punk's Instant Crush) but as you think it's around X&Y, that does narrow it down somewhat. I'm not convinced it's Heavy on My Heart by Anastacia though it fits the time frame. If anyone thinks they know, feel free to drop me a line.

Q.  Didn't Anchorman tweet a picture of Phil in a Koala suit at the ASFOS music video shoot in Australia? He doesn't make it into the actual video, does he?

I didn't see a photo tweet by Anchorman of the person in a koala suit. Anchorman wasn't on set, so I don't know who took it but I believe such a thing does exist. Thinking back, I do recall seeing Phil - and other band crew / personnel - fleetingly in the background of the video but he is definitely not in the koala suit.

Q.  Hey Oracle

I was wondering in the video of ASFOS, what video was playing on the television sets as Chris was playing his guitar?

As you may know, there was another video made before they went to Australia but the band didn't like it. What you can see on those TV sets in the shop window is a snippet of that ditched video.

Q.  Love the ASFoS video, so joyful! Was it shot in one take to really give it a "live" feel? If not, it still feels that way.

Although it does look like it was filmed in one take, it actually wasn't.

Q.  Hi Oracle!

In the clip True Love at 3:50 of the video we can see Chris and his partner dance, and in the background we see the decors representing a sun. Personally I find that the sun is behind a lot like the world of album cover Parachutes.

Thank you for the answer Oracle!

A few people have mentioned this. I can see what you mean but it's a sun and there is no intentional resemblance to the Parachutes globe cover. It's just a coincidence.

Q.  Hi friend,
Even though Chris is the only band member in the True Love video were the other band members required at the video shot, possibly to make any decisions or make sure they are happy as a whole band with what was happening?

No. Unless the band are all in the video, they're not required at the shoot and weren't on set for True Love.

Q.  Hey there!
Are there other band members than Chris in the True Love Video?
Thanks!

No, just Chris.

Q.  Hi Oracle,
This is the first time I am writing to you but I am so awaiting your response. I am studying music and I always look'' beyond'' songs, videos meaning ''how it is made''. I have question regarding video A Sky Full of Stars that I love btw. In the minute 1:13 Chris is joining the rest of the band, then they play together, after that he walks away and the rest of the band left behind turns their left, then in the minute 2:40 they meet again but Jonny, Guy and Will come from Chris'... RIGHT. In my opinion this is the mistake in video making. You may hate me for that but although I love the video that outside scenery does not match studio recording that can he hear in the song but car's honks and people screaming gives us great impression that the music is actually played! My love to all the band! Ps. I regret I did not manage to purchase ticket for Royal Albert Hall as the photos are marvelous.

Regards

Firstly, bands do not play live in their music videos; they play along to the backing track. Music videos do not have to match the studio recording and the atmosphere would have been lost if they'd have edited out the street sounds.
Secondly, not that it's a video that relies on its continuity to tell a story, I'm not sure I can agree with your theory. We can't see where the rest of the band go after they first play together. They may be out of shot but I assume they are walking down the same road as Chris in the same direction but reach their destination quicker and wait for Chris. That's what it looks like to me anyway.
