Q.  Hi Oracle !

I was at the Royal Albert Hall on July 1 and saw some of the concert setlist on the table next to you! I tried to come and ask you a set list but you left at that time. Have you still setlist?

Thanks you!

I think you must have mistaken my identity for someone else because I wasn't sat near a table. I did have a setlist with me though...
Always in My Head

Paradise
Magic
Clocks
The Scientist
God Put a Smile Upon Your Face
Til Kingdom Come
Don't Panic
Everything's Not Lost

Q.  Who was the opening artist in the 1st July show at Royal Albert Hall, London?

AlunaGeorge. That's the name of the duo but people tend to assume that it's Aluna's (the singer) surname.

Q.  Hi Oracle
Was so lucky to see the boys last night
Awesome show ... Magic
Could you tell me what the piece of music that was played just before the band came out ( instrumental ) was lovely.

They have used this piece before as entrance music. The first time was before they worked with the artist. It was An Ending (Ascent) by Brian Eno who as you probably know has been varying roles (mentor, collaborator and producer) during X&Y, Viva and MX.

Q.  Hello Oracle! There was a question answered on July 8th, talking about those upgrades to hardcore fans. How do you identify hardcore fans - lots of Coldplay apparel or what? Thanks for your time.

It's not just the clothes but can be - many people wear homemade creations. It's hard to pinpoint but you can always spot the die-hard fans. There's a sense of anticipation and excitement that is palpable.

Q.  Hi Oracle,

I have just seen your question regarding the fan upgrades at the RAH, luckily me and my friends were lucky enough to have been picked by Dick on the first night, could you please tell him a HUGE thanks from us! Moving onto the question what do these incredible people such as Dick and all of the crew/production team do when the band aren't doing any shows/tours, do they have any influence in the studio?

Thanks!!

Danny! :)

I'm not sure it was Dick that upgraded you on the first night (he may have) as Dan was there. It was most likely one of them.
Neither are studio personnel, no. Dan is the band's trainer and Dick is married to the band's wonderful production assistant. I asked to do it at the Emirates but realized it's only possible at seated venues.
Some crew work with the band in the studio, some go on tour with other bands and some take time off. It depends.
I'll be honest, none of the crew have any real influence in the studio - that's down to the band & Phil. Apart from the time Matt McGinn gave some input to Square One.

Q.  Hey Oracle!
I was at the the RAH on the 2nd of July, me and my friend sat in our circle seats when a mysterious man came out of nowhere and told us that the band had bought a load of front row tickets and were giving them to hardcore fans. Me and my friend were almost in tears so my question is: who is this man and how can I contact him and thank him?
Thank You!

As you are (now) aware, the band buy up tickets for the first couple of rows - it's been happening for years. Before the show, a member of the crew or touring party (trainer Dan, family/friends) hunt down die-hard fans and "upgrade" their nosebleed seats to front rows.
At the RAH, the man in question is called Dick and he is a lovely Irish gent.
I shall pass on your thanks to him.

Q.  Dear Oracle,
Tonight's show is really amazing!
Jonny just sang Don't Panic! What was that! So good! I'm so happy here... so far away...
Now they're playing Everything's Not Lost, I love this song.
Wish I was there.
Were you at the gig?

love,
Carol.

You were all there in spirit!
I'll let you into a little secret. Don't Panic and Everything's Not Lost were only added to the set list during soundcheck. Chris said he wanted to play some older songs and asked me which one(s). I said that Sparks would sound great in the Royal Albert Hall but Guy said it was too downbeat. Keith Wozencroft (who used to work at the band's label and essentially signed them to Parlophone) chose Everything's Not Lost. Don't Panic was a popular choice so they ran through them. Chris had some trouble remembering how to play Everything's Not Lost - Will guided him through. Chris also struggled with the lyrics but Phil came to the rescue getting the lyrics via his phone (I hope he used this site to get them from our Recordings section!) Only one run through and it was gig ready. Amazing to hear that song after so long.

Q.  Dear Oracle, just checking; is it ok to upload videos from the gigs online? Also was Debs wearing a stripy skirt last night? I thought I saw her right at the end! So belated 'hello' if it was!! X

Oh please do upload your photos and videos here. We're all about sharing.
Debs was there but wasn't wearing a stripy skirt.
I saw a lot of familiar faces myself and everyone was in fine voice. What a show!
Hope everyone listening at home enjoyed it too.

Q.  Amazingly I got tickets for Coldplay at the Albert Hall. Is there a support band playing and if so what is the predicted time that Coldplay will be on stage? Many thanks for hopefully helping with babysitting issues!

AlunaGeorge are the opening act for both nights and the times you need are as follows:

Doors - 6.30 pm
AlunaGeorge - 8 pm
Coldplay - 9 pm

Don't forget, tonight's show will be broadcast live across the Bauer Media Group's UK stations. One of which is Absolute Radio.
