Q.  Hi Oracle,
Why Phil was in a koala suit on the #ASFOS video?
Thanks!

Was he? I think you are mistaken. I do spy a fan in an elephant costume at the end in the square but that was not scripted. There were no other animal suits that I can see. CORRECTION! I must need my eyes testing (again) because there IS a koala suit and it's not the only animal suit either!
There was somebody in the video that you may recognise but nobody has asked me yet. Maybe that person has not been spotted... Yet.

Q.  Is it the stage in the video uploaded on YouTube for A sky full of stars (TV special) is the one that Chris Martin mentioned which cost about 2m to build?

The TV special - Coldplay: Ghost Stories - was the stage that Chris was referring to when he said it was too expensive to re-create for every show but I'm pretty sure he was half joking / exaggerating the £2 million cost of it - though it was VERY expensive.

Q.  Why the set used to the TV Special is too expensive? It seems simply a round stage...

It wasn't "simply a round stage"; it was recorded in a custom-built amphitheatre.
As they performed in the round, they also were able to incorporate 360-degree projections.

Q.  Dear Oracle,

I just found a video of Midnight, live at the Alcaline concert. I love it. Can you give me the playlist of that concert?

Love Coldplay and thank you for your time.
Isabelle

I was very confused by this as I didn't know where Alcaline was. I realise you're actually referring to the TV special, Coldplay: Ghost Stories that you presumably watched on Alcaline. It's got nothing to do with Alcaline by the way.
The set list was:

Always In My Head
Magic
Clocks
(Ink)
True Love
(Midnight)
Viva La Vida
Another's Arms
Oceans
A Sky Full Of Stars
(Fly On / O)
Paradise

Q.  I love the stage set from the Ghost Stories TV special. Who designed it, and will it be going on the road with the band?

It was designed by Phil, Paul Normandie and Misty Buckley.
It hasn't been (& won't be) on the road with the band; it's actually too expensive to do.

Q.  Hi Oracle! So I have this theory...

Phil & Anchorman are one & the same. Any plot twist (aka your thoughts) on this?

P.S. Show Manila some love. :( We've been feeling left out. Forever waiting. :(

No. Here on the website you're either reading posts by Anchorman or blogs by Roadie #42 or - as you're here - answers by me.
Phil tweets and signs off PH so that's how you'll spot him. Anchorman follows tweets with A and I can assure you A and PH are not one and the same.

Ps if you're here looking for Team Oracle, the replies will be posted over the weekend.

Q.  Hey Oracle, I have a riddle for you!

What do you call a trio of roadie bikers?
(I'd really like to know as I didn't get what Phil meant to other day when he posted this)

Thanks!

A gaggle of geese, a murder of crows, a flock of sheep, a herd of cows, a pride of lions etc. There is no answer for a trio of roadie bikers - it was just a little joke.

Q.  Hello powerful Oracle.

I hear a lot about Coldplay's mysterious 5th member and wonder what exactly he's responsible for at shows. Is he in charge of triggering tracks and click? Does he play keys? I must know. It's killing me. A lot.

There is nothing mysterious about our 5th member. He is openly named in fact.
Phil Harvey has a creative role, not a performing one.
The band's facebook page says:

The people:

Jonny Buckland
The wise one who plays guitar

Will Champion
The frightening one who plays drums

Guy Berryman
The very handsome one who plays bass

Chris Martin
The other one, who sings

And don't forget

Phil Harvey
The wise, handsome, frightening one who tells us what to do

Q.  Hello Oracle!! :D
How are you? I hope you're well!! My question is: Which album was the hardest to make. I understand that every album has its long hours where you probably feel sick of the sight of seeing instruments , but did the boys find one album harder? Perhaps Parachutes being their first, or MX because it was a completely new wave of material for the band.
Thanks Oracle!

The short answer is X&Y.

Parachutes got off to a tough start as they began working with a producer who just wasn't right for them so they had to start again. Once they "found" Ken Nelson, things went pretty smoothly for a debut record.
There was a fair amount of pressure recording the follow up, A Rush Of Blood to the Head. Not just because an artist's second album is often notoriously called the Difficult Second Album but the sessions produced a lot of new material - written and demoed. The band decided to push the release date back to get it right.
X&Y was the most difficult for a number of reasons mostly down to many changes. The major one being Phil was on hiatus and they really felt the huge gap he left behind. Without him, they drifted a little.
Phil's return and the set up of The Bakery & Beehive for Viva & MX has certainly made the process easier. Hurrah!

Q.  Hello!!
I'm not sure about you but I really love animals. I know Chris has a white little Maltese dog called Daffodil! But I saw this photo of Phil (Hi Yasmin!!) and I was wondering what the name is of the gorgeous black kelpie of theirs? Also is that Daffodil behind him/her? :)
Thank you so much Oracle

I have no idea who that dog is. It may be a family dog but it definitely isn't Phil's dog - different breed and colour. That doesn't look like Daffodil behind - I don't even think that's an animal.
