Q.  Why didn't the band have Xylobands at the Paralympics Closing Ceremony?

The Olympic Stadium was fitted with individual LED lighting panels at every seat.
It wouldn't have worked if both the panels and Xylobands were used in full force so it was decided not to use Xylobands, though the athletes were wearing them.

Q.  Hi Oracle,
I was just wondering if Coldplay ever considered sing 'para para paralympics' instead of Paradise at the amazing London 2012 Paralympics closing ceremony?

No. Though Michael McIntyre* definitely thought they would.
*Around the 8 minute mark.

Q.  Dear Oracle,

I was wondering how Coldplay came up with the setlist at the Paralympics. The order of the songs that were performed were in a different order as usual, especially Us Against the World being first. Did Coldplay have the people in charge of the Paralympics pick out the songs they wanted and then have them choose the order since everyone in the Paralympics was moving to the lyrics of each song? Let me know!

The band and Kim Gavin, the director of Olympic closing ceremony, worked together on putting the perfect setlist together. It took time and wasn't a decision taken lightly. The audience didn't know the order; only the band and the performers.

Q.  My dear Oracle, what a great surprise I had tonight! It was amazing the Coldplay performance at the closing ceremony of the London Paralympics... and as Chris said, a great honor! I just want to know if you were there.
Please tell me how did it feel?
Have a nice day! Love Carol.

I was there, Carol but I'm not sure I can put into words how I felt or how it was.
It was mind-blowing, magical, incredible, jaw-droppingly beautiful and the most amazing thing I have ever witnessed in my life. I doubt I will ever experience anything quite like that again in my lifetime.
I haven't watched the TV version yet but am humbled and grateful to have had the once in a lifetime opportunity of being there watching it all unfold.
It's also been great to read so many fans comments about how much they loved it too.

Q.  I was watching the repeats of Coldplay at the closing ceremony of the Paralympics and they said that a rumour was going around that Coldplay got paid only 1 pound to perform. Is that true? Cheers :)

It's not a rumour; every act/band who performed at the opening & closing ceremonies of both the Olympics and Paralympics got paid £1 to perform - including Sir Paul McCartney.

Q.  Hi Oracle, hope your day's going swell! So I'm just needing to ask to make sure: is Coldplay still performing for the Paralymics? If so, then are they doing the opening or closing ceremonies?

We answered that on here a couple of times and tweeted on the 15th August (yesterday) just to clarify what's happened.
It's worth signing up to Twitter for updates...

Q.  Hi Oracle,
Just asking about the Paralympic concert. Will the band be performing just a few songs or will they be doing the MX set? I only really have a interest to see Coldplay so don't want to pay all that money if they sing 5 songs. How long will they be on stage?

Also it is £100 in category C but where is that in the stadium?

Thank you

Whether it's the MX set, a full set, a shorter set remains to be seen but this is not a Coldplay show; it's a performance.
There's a saying that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
This show is the closing ceremony so to be honest if you're only going for Coldplay, I think maybe you should give it a miss. That's not meant to sound as snooty as I am sure it does but I think feeling the spirit of the Paralympics is just as important as being a fan of one band asked to play the event, if you see what I mean? They may play one, two, three or more songs but it's not their gig.
I have no idea where seats in category C are either but as £100 is a lot of money, I'd suggest only paying that if you really want to experience the whole thing rather than a segment of it.

Q.  Dearest Oracle,

I was wondering if there was any way that Coldplay's performance at the Paralympic Games are going to be televised or shown via live webcast. I'd love to watch the show as I know it's going to be massive!

At this stage we haven't got any television TX times but I do know Channel 4 in the UK are showing the games so they may also be showing the opening & closing ceremonies.
I don't know if you'd be able to watch that channel where you are but if we find out information nearer the time, we'll let you know. Maybe your local listing will have info the week before?
