Q.  Can anyone identify the font used in the intro titles for the Paradise music video? It's the same font that the current Parlophone logo uses. I'm not sure if the crooked O's are part of the font or have been tweaked. Thanks!

I don't know the font name but yes, it is the current Parolophone font and the Os are part of that font.

Q.  Dear Oracle,
Do you know where I can find a Paradise elephant costume?
Many thanks in advance! ;)

They were just costumes hired from fancy dress shops - except Guy's which was very expensive as they couldn't get a 4th one the same in time.

Q.  Chris has said many times that Paradise was originally written for the winner's original song on X Factor but the band decided to keep it. Did he go on to write the winner's song for the show? If so, what is the title of that song and can we find it on YouTube?

No, he didn't. As it's never happened, there isn't a video I can point you towards.
I'm so glad they kept Paradise. I can't imagine anyone else singing it and I love it. To think of a world without that song & video in it... well, it just doesn't bear thinking about!

Q.  Hi Oracle! I was listening to the Princess of China - EP and I was wondering who created the Paradise Tiesto remix?
Love from America!

Er, that'll be Tiesto - the Dutch DJ/ producer. Funnily enough, his latest 2014 album is called A Town Called Paradise (nothing to do with Coldplay).

Q.  To The Oracle
Paradise (an awesome song, from an awesome album, from an awesome band) has some strings in it. Are they 'real' or from a string synthesizer?

Davide Rossi arranged the strings for Paradise. When the band plays live, the strings aren't live but Davide's original strings are on backing tape.

Q.  Oracle:

In which gig the band put on the elephant's mask appeared on the Paradise video?

It was at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa on 8 October, 2011.

Q.  Hi Oracle,
Since I saw the Paradise video I've had this question in my head and right until this moment I took the time to put it together and send it to you.
What is this picture?
I thought that was at the recording of the Paradise video, as it says in the caption, but it never came up. I hope you can answer this question as I'm sure I'm not the only Coldplay fan that noticed this.

This Paradise video never made the light of day - I've never seen it - and was replaced with the wonderful Mat Whitecross video.

Q.  Hi all-knowing Oracle,
A question about the Paradise video. Why does Chris Martin in the middle of Africa riding a unicycle come out of character and take his elephant head off?
Take care,
RK from Canada.

Because it was blooming boiling hot in that suit - especially in the heat of the weather! I think the real question is why it was included in the video. There were discussions about keeping Chris' identity anonymous but there was also the feeling that perhaps people wouldn't believe it was really Chris unless they saw him so the decision was made to keep that reveal in the video.

Q.  Hi there!
I was wondering, did Chris know how to ride a monocycle before the Paradise video, or did he have to learn?
Thanks very much, lots of love from Spain!

Yes, he did. Mat Whitecross mentions the fact in this interview along with more interesting facts about the Paradise video.

Q.  Did Chris have to learn to ride a unicycle for the Paradise video?

No, he already knew how to ride one.
