Q.  Dear Oracle,
Was the Green Eyes video, that was once posted on YouTube, filmed in Central Park, New York City?

I'm afraid I am not aware of it because it isn't an official video for Green Eyes - there isn't one. I have no idea who shot it or where, sorry!

Q.  Hi!
I just wanna know why Coldplay played Crest of Waves for sound check? Does it have a particular reason?
Thank you :-)

I was at the sound check in Paris on 28 May where the band played Green Eyes & Crest of Waves. Green Eyes was played later in the proper show - as it was again tonight in Tokyo.
Sound checks are a rare opportunity to try old songs and if they work out, they may make an appearance in the show or at a later date but sometimes they play songs at sound check just for fun.

Q.  Hey Oracle,
I already tried Google.

Is Green Eyes written by Chris or not?

Because if you search it on Wikipedia it says: 'Green Eyes may refer to: Green Eyes, a song by Matt Lombardi written for Julie Marie Fort given to Coldplay for their album A Rush of Blood to the Head'.

The idea that they didn't write it makes me a bit sad, since the song is so full of love, you know? It sounds so sincere. And I thought that it was written for Jonny and that girl, so... I'm really confused right now.

If you answer, thanks a lot! And thanks a lot for reading this, anyway!

This is an example of how Wikipedia isn't always 100% accurate and the old adage "don't believe everything you read" is true. As much as I do love Wiki, it looks like someone has added that entry - probably to name check themselves and a mate as neither are clickable links so not that prolific eh?

If you delve a little deeper into the AROBTTH entry, it mentions the real fact that Chris wrote the song.

Q.  Dear Oracle thingy magingy all-knowing Jim bob person,
Having read through fourscore Oracle postings, my question is probably too much related to Coldplay for you to answer, but it's about Green Eyes. When I listened to it for the first time, I thought it was a gem because I immediately thought it was about Gwyneth, and that extra meaning just transformed it into a sparkly rainbow of a song. But I just read on a forum that Chris denied it's about her during a performance, at the time saying coldplay was gonna stop performing it too because it was always wrongly associated with her. Ok, so what is the real story behind this song? According to something else Chris said, it's got something to do with an "American friend".
I hope that's not too personal a question for him. If he says it is, just tell him I'm a UCL student and he'll be like "way to go! I'll tell ya".
Let me take this opportunity to say they are quite an inspiration to all UCL students, that 4 ordinary guys, well clever but ordinary, homey chaps, can make it big like that.

Cheeky! Green Eyes was written about an "American friend" yes but also about Jonny. It has been played sporadically (and during the Viva tour) but I guess Chris got sick of being asked and rested it for a while, but since it was written before they met... you can see that it isn't.
