Q.  Hello Oracle!
I was wondering what was the most exciting moment in the career of Coldplay or the time when they felt most grateful? It was at a concert or maybe some Grammy Award?
Thank you so much, and much love to all!!

There have been so many moments: their first NME / Melody Maker review (especially the former's new band to watch for 1999 piece), Parachutes debuting at #1, their first Brit Award, their first Glastonbury headline, their first Grammy... The list is endless and continues to grow.

Q.  Hi Oracle,

My first Coldplay song was, Paradise and it hooked me to Coldplay for life. It also hooked me to Mylo Xyloto. I'm loving the whole album. Not just the main tracks, I mean all the tracks, even UFO is a very meaningful song. The whole album works like magic. Since that i'm backtracking all the Coldplay albums and I love what im hearing.

I was little disappointed it wasn't selected as a nominee for Grammys. Why is that? Do you think it'll be the album of the year for next Grammys? Paradise should have won a Grammy, it is that good. Will it be eligible for next year too?

Thanks

Mylo Xyloto was released on 24th October 2011 and the eligibility period for the 2012 Grammy Awards was October 1st 2010 to September 30th 2011.
That means the album and singles will be eligible for the Grammys 2013 but who knows what will be nominated and subsequently win?

Q.  Hi Oracle

I just discovered Colplays's post on Facebook saying you can watch their grammy performance with Rihanna on Channel 4 and I missed it! I have been searching the web for it every since the Grammys because they don't show it over here, so where can I watch it?

Coldplayer Lucy :)

Ah, you mean the tweet? I have definitely watched the Grammy Awards on TV in the U.K before - not live of course but usually very early hours at the weekend. As you know, you missed this year's highlights on Channel 4 last night. Unfortunately, it's not available on 4oD. If there are any repeats, we will let you know as and when we find out.
I'm afraid you can't watch Coldplay's performance on YouTube due to Grammy copyright. I did but that was not long after the event and videos have since been removed.
I will keep ears and eyes open for you as I am sure it will be available somewhere soon. Check TV listing too as you may have channels I don't that are showing them. (If anyone knows, i am sure they will let me know, so i may edit this entry).

Q.  Hi dear Oracle, I got a question Coldplay related.

If the song Clocks was released in April of 2003 as a single and all of that
why did the song win the Grammy for the record of the year in 2004?

Thanks.

The Grammy year of eligibility doesn't run from January - December as a normal calendar so the release dates fall into different brackets rather than what you would think usual.
Hence Clocks' release as a single was eligible for the Grammy nomination and win in 2004 despite the album it came from being a winner the previous year.

Q.  At the 2003 Grammy Awards, who introduced Coldplay before they performed Politik?

It was the hugely talented actor (and you may know him from the comedy arena also), John Leguizamo.

Q.  Who created the portrait of Coldplay for the 51st Grammys? Thanks for your answer.

The 51st Grammy Awards chose a subtitle, Music Makes Us (aka Celebrating the Music that Makes us), with selected artists chosen to reveal their musical inspirations. Those song titles were then used by the design company TBWA/ Chiat/Day to form an image of the artists.
At the time we ran a little feature which I think you'll like.

Q.  Hey there,
Maybe people out there were like me too. The question is was the Grammy voted by public or judge by jury?

ps: what is the stands for a.k.a?

The Grammy Awards submissions are reviewed by an extensive panel of music industry experts. Works are then voted for and they make up the nominations. This shortlist is sent to members of the Recording Academy who vote secretly.
Before the reviewing stage of the process eligible nominations are actually entered for consideration by a record label or individual. In case anyone is wondering no, Coldplay did not enter themselves!

A.K.A means also known as and furthermore P.K.A means professionally known as.

Q.  Oracle!
Are the boys excited for their Grammy Nominations? Thank You Kindly!

Yes this is fantastic news!
Prospekt's March was released during the eligibility period for the 52nd Grammy Awards but of course that wasn't a thought at the time. It's great when the nominations come through and are a totally unexpected surprise!

They have won a total of seven Grammy Awards. Apart from last week's three (see news for which awards they received) they gained one for Parachutes (Best Alternative Album). Another year they collected two, one for In My Place (Best Rock Performance...), the other for A Rush of Blood, (Best Alternative Album). They also achieved Record of the Year with Clocks.
