Q.  Is this movie actually happening? As a Coldplay/Foo Fighters fan, I would absolutely love it!!

Not so much "happnening" as "happened"! This is very old news - going back as far as 2002.
I've answered questions about it before in 2009, 2012 & 2013.

Q.  Just back from the movies and I was very surprised to hear the Midnight track on the trailer of Exodus. I knew about Miracles, but was Midnight initially planned to be on that soundtrack? Any other contribution to future productions?

A song being used in a trailer is very different from an original song being written for a film as is the case with Miracles and was with Atlas & Wish I Was Here.
Those are the only tracks written specifically for film soundtracks.

Q.  Hey Oracle, I noticed the other day that Lost and Chris' version of the song Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas appears in Ugly Betty.... And I was just wondering if you have a list of all the Coldplay songs that appear in movies or tv series?

Thanks x

There are simply too many TV shows that it would be almost impossible to list every one. We don't have a list of films either but you can easily find out from a source such as IMDB.

Q.  I know that a song in a new Sky Movies Christmas advert is not Miracles. Can you tell what's the title and author of this song, please?

We've got no idea! It could be library music... I would have thought that the true identity would have been revealed by now if it was a band / artist.

Q.  Dear Oracle,
I was wondering about Miracles. I saw a video that has a snippet of the song and I'm really excited about it. I wanted to know: Will we be able to hear it before December 16th?

The clip that has been doing the rounds is NOT Miracles; it's not even Coldplay!

Q.  Dear Oracle,
I just heard a beautiful orchestral remix of Midnight used for the Exodus: Gods and Kings movie trailer. I would like to know if this song will be published and available for purchase. Thanks!

The only trailer I have seen, doesn't appear to feature a remix version. Songs used for trailers can be edited to have the desired silences or effects to compliment the trailer - it'd be a bit useless if singing was interrupting the flow of what the trailer is trying to convey.
Midnight wasn't released as a single and isn't going to be - regardless of version.

Q.  Hi,

I was recently on a plane, and while looking through the in-flight entertainment, I noticed and watched a special live video of Ghost Stories. I am now aware that a live album for Ghost Stories is being released, and once I watched the trailer for the DVD, I was pretty sure that it was the same thing as what I watched on the plane. Is this true?

Thanks.

It very well could be but I believe there were (sort of) 3 versions.
One included Clocks and Paradise. Another was an edited version. The DVD could be classed as the third and consists of:
1. Always In My Head
2. Magic
3. Ink
4. True Love
5. Midnight
6. Another's Arms
7. Oceans
8. A Sky Full Of Stars
9. O

Q.  Do you think we could hear Wish I Was Here with the original vocals from Chris. It's an amazing song.

Thanks.

If such a version exists, it will only be in demo form. This is a collaboration so it was never a Coldplay song before it became what it is. As far as I know, the only song that ever started being performed and heard as a Coldplay song before being recorded and released by anyone else was Gravity (Embrace).
Even when Chris has written or given tracks to other people, I have never heard a version with Chris singing. Lukas (recorded by Natalie Imbruglia) for example, was intended for Viva but I never heard it.

Q.  Hello Oracle, could you clarify something for me please? Is the new song on the Wish I Was Here soundtrack a collab between Coldplay and Chan Marshall or just Chris and Chan? Different websites say different things. Also, when will I be able to hear it? I love hearing new songs from Chris and/or the boys. Thanks!

I was only saying to Anchorman last week how surprised I was that nobody had asked about this song given it was first mentioned in the press over 2 months ago.
I also notice that different sources are saying different things.
Wish I Was Here is a Zach Braff film that looks set to have a great soundtrack. FYI The trailer song is So Now What by The Shins. Chris wrote a song that Chan (a.k.a Cat Power) sings and he provides backing vocals but it's Coldplay and Cat Power.
I haven't heard it yet but Dan Green tells me it's great. Zach Braff said this about it: "It's the title song of the movie. It's one of the most amazing songs ever."
The film is released 18 July. Can't wait!
